Russell Archer dreams of having his own land. After a season of work on Lidge Mercer's Wyoming ranch, he's offered a junior partnership. But with Lidge's past, is it partner or bodyguard? Meanwhile, Archer helps a young woman named Kate find her father, Jack Doolin, in another town. Back at the ranch Archer finds Lidge Mercer dead, and Doolin gives him possible leads. Now Doolin is dead, and the killers are coming for Archer.
